Panthers to activate Olsen from IR, expect him to play vs. Jets
The Carolina Panthers will officially activate tight end Greg Olsen from injured reserve after the veteran went down with a foot injury in Week 2, head coach Ron Rivera announced, per Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer.
Rivera says the Panthers will use Olsen "judiciously" this Sunday against the New York Jets.
Olsen returned to practice Monday following Carolina's bye week. His recovery should provide a boost for the Panthers' offense as Olsen led the team in receiving yards in each of the previous three campaigns. Between 2014-2016, Olsen became the first tight end in league history to record three straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons.
To make room for Olsen on the roster, the Panthers will place rookie receiver Curtis Samuel on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
