Belichick dubs struggling Dolphins' QBs 'outstanding'

Bill Belichick is usually very careful not to give opposing teams any bulletin-board material, but his relentless compliments may have drifted into unintentional sarcasm on Wednesday.

Preparing to face the Miami Dolphins this weekend, the New England Patriots head coach had high praise for the quarterbacks who run the league's 30th-ranked offense.

"Well, the Dolphins have very good depth at quarterback. Both players are outstanding players," Belichick said Wednesday when asked the difference between facing Jay Cutler and Matt Moore. "They can throw the ball well, they're smart, they can handle the different looks that coach (Adam) Gase gives them to make the defense declare what they're in and then attack it.

"So, I think they have a very good and healthy quarterback situation. They have two guys that can come in and play at a high level and move the ball and score points for their team. So, it's a good position the Dolphins put themselves in."

The Patriots still don't know which play-caller they'll face Sunday as Cutler may be held out due to a concussion.

Both Cutler and Moore have had trouble finding success and consistency this season, ranking 39th and 44th in league passer rating this season, with their head coach unafraid to call out their struggles publicly.
