Holgorsen not underestimating Texas: 'They always have the best players'

Denny Medley / USA TODAY Sports

Texas may be struggling to regain the form that made it a national powerhouse, but Dana Holgorsen certainly won't be taking the Longhorns lightly.

The West Virginia head coach thinks Tom Herman and Co. still have plenty of talent.

If that's indeed the case, it hasn't translated to wins for Texas. The Longhorns have finished under .500 the past three seasons and sit at 5-5 so far in 2017. Herman also noted earlier this week he was disappointed with his first year in Austin.

One thing that hasn't helped the cause is talented players from the state suddenly opting to play elsewhere. None of the top 10 recruits from Texas based on the ESPN 300 for 2017 decided to play for the Longhorns.

Texas travels to West Virginia to meet the 7-3 Mountaineers on Saturday afternoon.
