Kansas chancellor supports Beaty despite 1-9 record

There are many coaches on the hot seat around the country, but David Beaty doesn't appear to be one of them.

The Kansas head coach, along with athletic director Sheahon Zenger, has the full support of chancellor Doug Girod despite a 1-9 record this season, according to a letter Girod wrote Tuesday backing the pair.

"Nobody denies the challenges we are having on the field, but I maintain my belief that Sheahon and Coach Beaty have the right long-term vision and are doing things the right way," Girod wrote. "Our focus now is empowering them with the tools they need to fulfill their vision."

Beaty is 3-31 since taking over the team in 2015, and has just one conference win in three years. The Jayhawks weren't much better before he got there, but is only a decade removed from a 12-1 season and an Orange Bowl victory.

Things are unlikely to get better this season, as Kansas will close its campaign with difficult games against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
