Report: Texas A&M expected to inquire about Jimbo Fisher

Texas A&M could be trying to make a big splash in the coaching waters this offseason.

The Aggies will be reportedly looking into Jimbo Fisher's interest in becoming head coach, two people familiar with the situation told Dan Wolken of USA TODAY Sports.

Kevin Sumlin remains head coach for the time being, though it is widely believed he will be let go at the end of the season.

Fisher currently occupies one of the best jobs in the country at Florida State, and didn't seem to be seriously interested in jumping ship to LSU recently, but this situation could be different.

Texas A&M athletic director Scott Woodward director knows Fisher well from their time at LSU. The pair have stayed in contact over the years, a source told Wolken.

Fisher is set to make $5.5 million annually with the Seminoles until 2024, so it remains to be seen if the inquiries lead to any real interest.
