The battle Jerry Jones has waged with the NFL and its compensation committee over an extension for commissioner Roger Goodell has led to speculation the league could force the owner of the Dallas Cowboys to sell his team.

Jones laughed off the suggestion in an appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday morning.

"I've had not one inkling of communication with the league office or any owner that would suggest something that laughable and ridiculous," Jones said, according to Kate Hairopoulos of the Dallas Morning News.

Jones restated his intention to sue the league and the compensation committee if it moves forward with an extension for Goodell. He added his issue with it comes down to timing.

"He has 18 months (left before the contract expires). We've got all the time in the world to extend him. We need to slow this train down," Jones said, per Todd Archer of ESPN.
