49ers' Staley: 1st win of season felt 'just as good as winning the NFC Championship'

Joe Staley knows what it feels like to win an NFC Championship game. He did so as a starting left tackle for the San Francisco 49ers in 2012.

The Niners won't be getting back there this season, but after they won their first game of the year Sunday over the New York Giants, Staley felt the same feeling.

"I've been part of a lot of wins with this franchise over the 11 years I've been here. This win felt just as good as winning the NFC Championship," Staley said after the game, according to Daniel Brown of the San Jose Mercury News.

"It was unbelievable. Because I know how close this team is. On the outside looking in, we're 0-9 and a young team. Not everybody sees what we see in the locker room."

If the 49ers don't win another game all season, Sunday's victory will almost certainly be the equivalent of booking a trip to the Super Bowl.
