Bucs GM: Winston could be out for 'extended period'

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht indicated Sunday that quarterback Jameis Winston could be out significantly longer than the initial two-week timetable due to his lingering shoulder injury.

" ... There is no timeline on this," Licht said before the Bucs took on the New York Jets, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. "This may be an extended period."

Winston was diagnosed with a sprained AC joint last week, and was subsequently shut down for "a couple weeks" to rest his shoulder. Licht said that additional tests revealed no further damage to Winston's ailing shoulder.

The 23-year-old pivot was seemingly poised for a breakout campaign entering the season, but has only thrown 10 touchdowns to six interceptions in eight games.
