Nelson: Packers have never pressured me to play with injuries

Jordy Nelson defended Dr. Patrick McKenzie after Martellus Bennett accused the Green Bay Packers physician of trying to convince him to play through injury.

The Packers wideout said he's never felt pressure to play with an injury during his time with the team.

Green Bay waived Bennett on Wednesday due to a "failure to disclose a medical condition," which the tight end denied. The 31-year-old is reportedly dealing with a torn rotator cuff, something he says the Packers knew about when they signed him in March.

Bennett released a series of Instagram posts Friday calling out the team and saying McKenzie was pushing him to play with the injury. The veteran also noted he got opinions from other doctors and opted for surgery, and claimed the Packers feared he would end up on injured reserve and be on the books for 2018, so they waived him.

The New England Patriots claimed Bennett after he was waived.
