Kaepernick meets with Olympic icon John Carlos

Colin Kaepernick's protest against police brutality and racial inequality has made headlines for over a year, and the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback has now met with one of the most prominent activists in sports history.

Kaepernick was put in contact with John Carlos, who won a bronze medal in the 200 metres at the 1968 Olympic Games. Carlos and teammate Tommie Smith made their mark on history by raising their fist on the podium while the American national anthem played. Both Carlos and Smith were banned from subsequent Olympic events as a result.

It's living proof that athlete activism goes a long way, and Carlos and Kaepernick both appeared to be mutually impressed by each other.
