Buccaneers' Evans suspended 1 game for hit on Saints' Lattimore

Orlando Ramirez / USA TODAY Sports

Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans has been suspended one game for violating the league's rules against unsportsmanlike conduct and unnecessary roughness, the NFL announced Monday.

Evans hit New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore after the whistle during Sunday's game.

The 24-year-old raced to the sideline to deliver the hit as quarterback Jameis Winston and Lattimore were exchanging words, but he wasn't ejected. Evans will be appealing the decision, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

This news leaves the Bucs' offense severely shorthanded for Sunday's game against the New York Jets, as Winston's already been ruled out with a shoulder injury.
