Kelvin Benjamin 'wasn't surprised' Panthers traded him
Kelvin Benjamin getting dealt at the deadline came as a surprise to many, but not the new Buffalo Bills receiver.
Benjamin spoke to reporters Monday and noted that he wasn't caught off-guard when the Carolina Panthers traded him.
"To tell you the truth, I kind of really wasn't surprised," Benjamin said, according to Mike Rodak of ESPN. "I could kind of feel that the offense was kind of going toward another direction. But this is a great opportunity for me. I'm excited - brand-new city, brand-new team. When I got here, man, they had open arms. I'm loving it. I'm excited."
The former first-round pick was productive in Carolina when healthy, but a torn ACL cost him the entire 2015 season. Although Benjamin wasn't surprised, he couldn't pinpoint a specific reason for the deal and is ready to move on.
"It could have been multiple reasons," Benjamin said. "Money issues. Who knows? At the end of the day, I'm here, I'm happy, I'm excited. Right now, I'm just moving forward."
Benjamin should hit the field for the Bills for the first time this week when Buffalo hosts the New Orleans Saints.
