The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are shutting down quarterback Jameis Winston for "a couple weeks" to rest his ailing shoulder, head coach Dirk Koetter announced Monday, according to Trevor Sikkema of Pewter Report.

A sprain of the AC joint in Winston's shoulder has been bothering him for the past few weeks, and he was pulled from Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints because of the ailment.

The 23-year-old underwent an MRI and X-rays following the contest and doctors recommended the team shut Winston down, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

Ryan Fitzpatrick came on in relief for Winston and figures to get the start Sunday when the Bucs host the New York Jets.
