Roethlisberger can't promise Bryant he'll throw him more passes

Ben Roethlisberger can no longer deny that receiver Martavis Bryant is unhappy. But he can't guarantee he'll meet Bryant's demands, either.

After catching just one pass on Sunday, Bryant threatened that if the Pittsburgh Steelers don't include him more in the offense, he wants out of town.

Roethlisberger responded to those demands on Wednesday.

"I'm not going to be a doctor and promise I'm going to save your life," Roethlisberger said, according to Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

"I'm going to tell him, 'If you're on your details and we're working together and I trust that you're going to be where we're supposed to be and you're there, good things will happen.'"

Bryant was suspended all of last season for a repeated violation of the league's personal conduct policy. Through the first seven games of this season, Bryant has just 18 receptions for 234 yards and a touchdown.

Roethlisberger said he had no clue Bryant was growing unhappy and would have preferred the wideout voice any displeasure with him directly.

"I'm the guy that throws the ball, so if you're unhappy about something, come talk to me," the quarterback said. "Maybe there is something we can figure out together to make it better."

It doesn't appear things will get better for Bryant any time soon, as he was demoted to the scout team at Wednesday's practice, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports.
