A pair of welterweights left a piece of themselves in the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 119, and the promotion has fattened their pockets for it.
Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Max Griffin took Fight of the Night honors - good for $50,000 each - for their three-round firefight in Sao Paulo on Saturday. Griffin miraculously recovered from an early onslaught to make it a nailbiter in the second round, but dos Santos rallied in the third to take a unanimous decision.
Derek Brunson and Pedro Munhoz won Performance of the Night bonuses for their emphatic stoppage victories on the main card. Brunson steamrolled a returning Lyoto Machida by first-round KO in the headlining middleweight bout, while Munhoz submitted Rob Font with a one-arm guillotine choke in the opening frame of their bantamweight tilt.
