Report: Lions' Tate expected to miss a few weeks with shoulder injury

Derick E. Hingle / USA TODAY Sports

Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate is expected to miss a few weeks after sustaining a shoulder injury in Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

An MRI on Monday revealed Tate is dealing with an AC joint sprain, added Rapoport.

The Lions are on a bye in Week 7, so Tate may only be at risk of missing one game.

The 29-year-old has had a solid start to the 2017 season, catching 36 passes for 363 yards and two touchdowns. His absence should open up more opportunities for preseason standout Kenny Golladay.
