Bears' Trevathan reached out to Packers' Adams after Week 4 headshot

Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan returned to practice a better man following his one-game suspension for a hit to the head of Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams in Week 4.

Trevathan twice reached out to Adams, according to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times, and acknowledged he'll have to be more careful in the future.

"I told him I hope he’s good," Trevathan said. "Hope you know I wasn’t trying to harm him. I was just trying to make a play."

He added: "I just gotta be more careful with situations like that. But I can’t let that slow me down. I’ve been playing this game for a long time. I’ll be more careful with the rules that are in place. But I’m just trying to make a play and hustling to the ball."

Trevathan said he accepts the league's decision to suspend him one game, but maintains there was no ill intent on the devastating play.

"I feel that one game was cool," Trevathan said. "I mean, you know, I’m not satisfied, but I can’t determine what goes on. Ain’t nothing I can say right now can change the fact they made (the decision), and I’ve got to respect it."

Adams cleared the league's concussion protocol in time for his best performance of the season in the Packers' Week 5 win over the Dallas Cowboys, catching seven passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

Trevathan said he's glad to see Adams come back strong and asserted there are no hard feelings between the two.

"He was real cool," Trevathan said. "He plays football. He plays it hard, and he plays it good. Obviously, he played last week. He did good. He handled it well. We were good."
