Hitchcock ties Arbour for 3rd spot on all-time wins list

With a 4-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night, Dallas Stars head coach Ken Hitchcock moved into a third-place tie on the all-time wins list at 782.

Hitchcock joins legendary Islanders boss Al Arbour, who led New York to four consecutive Stanley Cup victories between 1980-83. Hitchcock, however, accomplished the feat in his 1,456th game, compared to Arbour's mark of 1,607 contests.

The two men ahead of Hitchcock on the all-time list are current Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville (853) and the untouchable Scotty Bowman (1,244).

Hitchcock will have a chance to move into sole-possession of third place Wednesday in Nashville.
