Garrett: Cowboys players who raised fists during anthem won't be disciplined

After David Irving and Damontre' Moore raised their fist during the national anthem ahead of the Dallas Cowboys game Sunday, head coach Jason Garrett says neither player will be disciplined, despite recent comments from owner Jerry Jones.

"Absolutely not," Garrett told reporters Monday when asked if Irving or Moore would be subject to any team punishment, according to Kate Hairopoulos of the Dallas Morning News.

Jones said Sunday that any player that does "anything that is disrespectful to the flag" will not be allowed to play. He had specified that he wants all players to stand for the anthem, though he did not make it clear if he felt a raised fist would be considered disrespectful.

Garrett says he has not spoken to Jones about the owner's comments on the national anthem from Sunday. The head coach spoke with Irving and Moore about the demonstration and they had decided privately to raise their fists.

Garrett was apparen not aware of the defensive linemen's action until some time after the anthem.
