Legendary NFL quarterback Y.A. Tittle died Sunday night at the age of 90.

His death was confirmed by his university, LSU.

Tittle played from 1948 to 1964, amassing seven Pro Bowl trips, three first-team All-Pro team nominations, and an NFL MVP award in 1963. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1971.

Tittle started his career with the Baltimore Colts, playing for them while they were members of the All-America Football Conference and in 1950 when they joined the NFL. That stint was followed by a 10-year tenure with the San Francisco 49ers.

He joined the New York Giants in 1961, where he won his lone MVP award, and remained with the franchise for four years.

Tittle currently ranks 35th in career passing yards with 33,070 and 25th in touchdowns with 242.
