Report: Luck unlikely to return this month

Andrew Luck is back at practice, but he's not expected back in game action this month, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.

Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard stressed bringing Luck along gradually and hinted at him needing a number of weeks in practice before being cleared to play. That timeline makes it doubtful the franchise pivot will be back on the field sometime in October, La Canfora reports.

The Colts play four games this month before a Week 9 divisional game against the Houston Texans on Nov. 5.

The Colts traded for quarterback Jacoby Brissett before the season began and he's started the past three games, leading Indianapolis to a 1-2 record in that time while Luck recovers from offseason shoulder surgery.
