Indians appear to troll Yankees on Twitter after Bruce goes yard

Ken Blaze / USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Indians weren't the only team kicking the tires on acquiring outfielder Jay Bruce at the trade deadline, but they were the ones that ultimately pried him away from the New York Mets.

After Bruce blasted a monster two-run home run off New York Yankees starter Sonny Gray to put the Indians ahead 3-0 in Thursday's ALDS opener, the Indians' social media team appeared to throw shade at the Yankees, who reportedly inquired about Bruce in July, going so far as to offer multiple prospects.

After joining the Indians at the deadline - Cleveland took on the remaining $5 million on his contract - Bruce hit .248/.331/.477 with seven home runs and 26 RBIs. He saved the biggest blast so far for Thursday.

It's not often that the Yankees get labeled as cheapskates, but there's a first time for everything.
