NFL reduces Bears' Trevathan's suspension to 1 game
The NFL reduced Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan's suspension from two games to one, after he successfully appealed the sanction.
Trevathan was disciplined for an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit on Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams, rendering him briefly motionless on the field. The Bears linebacker drew a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty on the play but was not ejected.
Trevathan's appeal was heard by Derrick Brooks, who was jointly appointed by both the NFL and NFLPA. Brooks was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014, after earning 11 Pro Bowl selections and a Super Bowl victory during his career as an outside linebacker with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Adams was hospitalized Thursday and stayed overnight. The Packers' receiver is in the concussion protocol and may miss Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Trevathan will not play in Monday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
