Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson was suspended four games for boarding St. Louis Blues defenseman Sam Blais, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the second period Sunday when Wilson caught Blais with a hit from behind. Wilson was immediately assessed a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct.
Since Wilson also earned a suspension for interference on Blues forward Robert Thomas two weeks ago, he was considered a repeat offender under the collective bargaining agreement.
With the suspension, Wilson will forfeit $97,560.96. He's eligible to return to the lineup Friday, Oct. 13 versus the New Jersey Devils.
