Seattle Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril is expected to be sidelined for "a while" due to serious stingers in his neck, head coach Pete Carroll said Monday, according to Gregg Bell of The News Tribune.
Avril has experienced some numbness down his arm as a result of the stingers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The former Pro Bowler exited Sunday night's affair against the Indianapolis Colts because of his ailing neck.
Avril, who's in his 10th NFL season, has just one sack this year, but posted a career-high 11.5 sacks in 2016.
The 31-year-old helped Seattle win the Super Bowl in the 2013-14 season, his first campaign with the Seahawks.
