Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert revealed he got the "most vile, disgusting, racist" voice mails in response to LeBron James' criticism of President Donald Trump.

"Some of the most disgusting things I've ever heard people say," Gilbert said Friday on CNBC's "Squawk Box."

"You could hear it in their voice. It wasn't even about the issue. That's what really got me. They went to who they really are, some of them."

He added, "There's an element of racism I didn't even know existed in this country."

LeBron James recently called Trump a "bum" after he withdrew the Golden State Warriors' invitation to visit the White House due to Stephen Curry's hesitancy to attend.

Though the tweet received more love than any of Trump's ever have, it clearly also garnered plenty of hate.

Gilbert didn't take a stance either way, merely expressing shock over the unexpected backlash. He randomly showed up when the Chicago Cubs visited the White House in June to commemorate their World Series title, and took photos with the POTUS.
