Texans' Hopkins compares Watson's athleticism to Vick's
Deshaun Watson has already impressed many during his brief NFL career, and perhaps none more so than teammate DeAndre Hopkins.
The Houston Texans receiver heaped praise on his quarterback Thursday, comparing Watson to one of the most athletic players in the history of the position.
"I saw him do it in college, but this is the NFL," Hopkins told Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. "So, of course I'm impressed. I haven't seen a quarterback do that in a long time besides Michael Vick. Of course, everybody in this locker room is impressed."
Watson turned in his best game as a pro last week in a loss to the defending champion New England Patriots, throwing for more than 300 yards andtwo touchdowns.
The rookie is only three games into his career, but Hopkins believes Watson's dual-threat abilities are something Houston has been missing at the position.
"That's an element that we haven't had there," Hopkins said. "It gives us a lot of hope knowing that he can make plays with his feet or his arm. He doesn't just look to run first. As a receiver, it gives us confidence to get open. We know he can see all of the field. He's not locked in on just one thing. It's like he's played before in this league. He goes out there and makes plays not just with his feet, but with his arm."
