Titans' Walker received death threats over support of anthem protests
A couple days after making strong comments toward fans that would criticize protests during the national anthem, Tennessee Titans standout Delanie Walker revealed on Instagram that he and his family have received death threats.
"The death threats that my family and I have received since my comments are heartbreaking," reads one segment of the post. "The racist and violent words directed at me and my son only serve as another reminder that our country remains divided and full of hateful rhetoric.
"These words of hate will only fuel me in my efforts to continue my work reaching out to different community groups, listening to opposing voices, and honoring the men and women in the Armed Forces who risk their lives every day so that we may have this dialogue."
When some fans threatened to boycott games due to the protests during the anthem, Walker didn't hold back his thoughts.
"The fans that don't want to come to the game? I mean, OK. Bye. I mean, if you feel that's something, we're disrespecting you, don't come to the game. You don't have to. No one's telling you to come to the game. It's your freedom of choice to do that."
The Titans travel to Houston to face the Texans in AFC South play this Sunday.
