Fantasy: Start, Sit, Stash, Quit - Week 4
SSSQ is a weekly look at the under-the-radar fantasy players you should consider starting and the potential busts you should leave on your bench. We also identify breakout candidates to stash on your roster and players you can safely cut. For the rest of your lineup decisions, consult our Week 4 Rankings.
Start
Eli Manning, QB, Giants
at Buccaneers

Manning finally figured things out behind the Giants' porous offensive line in Week 3, completing 35 of 47 pass attempts for 366 yards and three touchdowns. He still tossed two interceptions, but the Giants' total lack of a run game offers upside through volume to fantasy managers. The Buccaneers' defense allowed Minnesota Vikings quarterback Case Keenum to throw for 369 yards and three touchdowns in Week 3.
Fearless prediction: 361 yards passing, 4 TDs
Other QBs to start
- Deshaun Watson vs. Titans
- Carson Palmer vs. 49ers
Chris Carson, RB, Seahawks
vs. Colts

Carson took over as the Seahawks' No. 1 running back in Week 3, receiving 56 percent of the offensive snaps, while pass-catching back C.J. Prosise ranked second at 37 percent. Prosise was ruled out for Week 4, likely leading to even more work for Carson, with Thomas Rawls and Eddie Lacy offering little in the passing game.
Fearless prediction: 66 yards rushing, 42 yards receiving, 2 TDs
Other RBs to start
- D'Onta Foreman vs. Titans
- Joe Mixon at Browns
- Wendell Smallwood at Chargers
Allen Hurns, WR, Jaguars
at Jets

Marqise Lee played more offensive snaps than Hurns in Week 3, but the latter still caught all three of his targets and reached the end zone for a second consecutive week. Hurns' sure hands - 12 catches on 14 targets this season - have earned him Blake Bortles' trust, while Lee has one less reception on nine more targets.
Fearless prediction: 79 yards receiving, TD
Other WRs to start
- Paul Richardson vs. Colts
- Sterling Shepard at Buccaneers
- Jamison Crowder at Chiefs
Jared Cook, TE, Raiders
at Broncos

As revered as the Broncos' pass defense is, it continues to be a target for fantasy managers in need of a productive tight end. Only six teams are allowing more receiving yards to opposing tight ends this season, and only three teams have given up more touchdowns. Cook caught four of six targets in each of his past two games, providing a steady floor.
Fearless prediction: 66 yards receiving, TD
Other TEs to start
- Cameron Brate vs. Giants
- Zach Ertz at Chargers
Sit
Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Steelers
at Ravens

Roethlisberger's coming off his lowest completion percentage of the season, and he's still yet to top 265 yards passing in a game. His road struggles are well known, and he heads to Baltimore to face a Ravens defense which started the year well before an embarrassing loss to the Jaguars in London. He completed just 23 of 45 passes for 264 yards in last season's game in Baltimore.
Other QBs to sit
- Jameis Winston vs. Giants
- Kirk Cousins at Chiefs
Ameer Abdullah, Lions
at Vikings

No team is allowing fewer fantasy points to opposing running backs than the Vikings, who are yet to surrender rushing or receiving touchdowns to RBs this season. Abdullah has topped 80 total yards in each of his past two games, but he was aided by a play of at least 22 yards in each outing. The Vikings haven't allowed a 20-yard rush attempt through three games.
Other RBs to sit
- Marshawn Lynch at Broncos
- Tevin Coleman vs. Bills
- Jonathan Stewart at Patriots
Pierre Garcon, WR, 49ers
at Cardinals

Garcon broke out last Thursday night with seven receptions for 142 yards, but he was still held out of the end zone. With the 49ers paying a visit to the Cardinals, he'll have to face a secondary that held the Dallas Cowboys' Dez Bryant to just two targets last week.
Other WRs to sit
- Golden Tate at Vikings
- Amari Cooper at Broncos
- Jermaine Kearse vs. Jaguars
Charles Clay, TE, Bills
at Falcons

The Falcons haven't allowed a touchdown to a tight end this season, capping the potential of the TD-dependent Clay. Clay is clearly the Bills' top red-zone option, but he's averaging fewer than 40 receiving yards per game, representing too low of a floor to trust in tough matchups.
Other TEs to sit
- Hunter Henry vs. Eagles
- Eric Ebron at Vikings
Stash
Will Fuller V, WR, Texans

Fuller is fully expected to make his return from a collarbone injury that has sidelined him since the beginning of the season. His role against the Tennessee Titans is yet to be determined, though, so fantasy managers who have snatched him off the waiver wire should leave him on the bench for his debut.
He can be used right away by more desperate managers, as he recorded more than 100 yards in each of the first two games of his rookie season last year. He won't take long to reassume his No. 2 receiver role.
Elijah McGuire, RB, Jets

McGuire played 19 percent of the Jets' running back snaps last week, according to Football Outsiders. The Jets were able to run more often than expected in a surprisingly convincing win over the Miami Dolphins - a game script that won't become too familiar this season.
With Matt Forte and his 23 offensive snaps likely to be sidelined for Week 4 or longer, McGuire should pick up more groundwork behind Bilal Powell.
Quit
Terrance West, RB, Ravens

West was the least impressive part of the disaster that was the Ravens' offense in Week 3. He played just 10 offensive snaps, rushing six times for 26 yards. It's now two consecutive weeks with 10 or fewer touches for him, as Javorius Allen has taken control of the backfield and Alex Collins is coming off the better game.
Jacquizz Rodgers, RB, Buccaneers

Rodgers took a step back in the Buccaneers' Week 3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, as he was outsnapped by pass-catcher Charles Sims. Regular starter Doug Martin will return in Week 5, forcing Rodgers back into a bench role. Feel free to drop him if a more important long-term option is available on the waiver wire right now.
