Watch: Kyrgios takes a knee prior to Laver Cup match against Federer

In a possible show of solidarity with athletes currently protesting inequality in the United States, Nick Kyrgios dropped to one knee and bowed his head before warming up for his match against Roger Federer at the Laver Cup.

While kneeling, usually during the playing of the American national anthem, has become a politicized demonstration among athletes in the U.S., it's notable how far away from the United States this demonstration took place.

Kyrgios is an Australian citizen born to a Greek father and Malaysian mother. Federer is Swiss. The Laver Cup is being held in Prague, Czech Republic, and pits tennis players from Europe against players from the rest of the world. No anthem, American or otherwise, was being played at the time of the demonstration.
