Projected FedEx Cup standings after Round 2 of Tour Championship

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Halfway through the Tour Championship at East Lake, a familiar name sits atop the tournament leaderboard and the projected FedEx Cup standings.

Justin Thomas followed up an opening-round 67 Thursday by going one better Friday, posting a 4-under-par 66 to grab a share of the lead with Paul Casey and Webb Simpson at 7-under par. Thomas' round vaulted the 24-year-old into the projected No. 1 position of the standings, and made him the favorite to claim the $10-million bonus heading into the weekend.

The No. 1 seed coming into the week, Jordan Spieth, had an up-and-down day in Atlanta. He made four birdies and four bogeys for an even-par 70, and fell to No. 4 in the projected rankings.

Jon Rahm sits one back of the leaders at 6-under par, while Dustin Johnson is tied for 15th at 3-under, and Marc Leishman continues to struggle at 2-over for the championship.

Here's a look at the projected FedEx Cup standings after Day 2.
