Report: Oilers, Maroon in preliminary extension talks
Perry Nelson-USA TODAY Sports
The Edmonton Oilers have reportedly reached out to Patrick Maroon's camp to begin talking about a contract extension.
There have been preliminary discussions between the Oilers and Maroon's agent, Allain Roy, about a new deal, TSN's Ryan Rishaug reports.
Maroon has one year left on the three-year, $6-million extension he agreed to with the Anaheim Ducks in 2014, carrying a $1.5-million cap hit.
The winger had a career season playing alongside Connor McDavid in 2016-17, notching 27 goals and 42 points in 81 games.
