Tom Brady knows a thing or two about quarterbacking and he thinks Colin Kaepernick can still play the same position in the NFL.

In a wide-ranging interview with Norah O'Donnell on "CBS This Morning," Brady, the New England Patriots quarterback and Super Bowl LI MVP, was asked if Kaepernick can still play in the league.

"I sure hope so. I've always watched him and admired him, the way that he's played he was a great young quarterback," Brady said, according to Scooby Axson of Sports Illustrated. "He came to our stadium and beat us and took his team to the Super Bowl.

"He accomplished a lot in the pros as a player. And he's certainly qualified and I hope he gets a shot."

Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers at the close of the 2016 season and has remained a free agent, though tens of quarterbacks with varying amounts of success and experience were scooped up in the offseason.

Though just 29 years old with a trip to the Super Bowl under his belt, Kaepernick has earned little more than a sniff from prospective teams.

He sat and then took a knee during the national anthem last season, sparking protests during the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner" that have continued into this season.
