Report: Elliott appeal ruling not expected Monday
Arbitrator Harold Henderson is not expected to issue a ruling on Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott's appeal hearing until Tuesday at the earliest, a source told Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.
The hearing for Elliott's appeal of his six-game suspension concluded Thursday. If a ruling is not made by 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, the running back will be eligible to play Week 1 against the New York Giants. For a suspension to be in effect, it needs to be out of the appeal process by that time or the player is automatically eligible for that week's game, though they may still have to serve the entire suspension.
The matter is complicated by the hearing for a temporary restraining order that Elliott and the NFLPA filed against the suspension Friday. A Dallas judge will hear Elliott's arguments to have his suspension blocked at 6:00 p.m. ET Tuesday.
If Henderson rules in favor of Elliott and overturns the suspension, the restraining order will be dropped, and the running back will be eligible to start the 2017 season.
