The Buffalo Bills announced the signing of free-agent quarterback Joe Webb on Monday after working him out the day prior.

With starter Tyrod Taylor and backup T.J. Yates in concussion protocol ahead of Sunday's season opener, rookie Nathan Peterman was the only healthy quarterback on the roster prior to the Webb signing.

Head coach Sean McDermott was tight-lipped about Taylor's status in a press conference Monday.

"Tyrod remains in concussion protocol," he said. "I think he's getting better but he's still in the league protocol."

McDermott and Bills general manager Brandon Beane both know Webb - who has also played at receiver - from their time with the Carolina Panthers.

"Joe Webb has experience at many different positions," said McDermott. "He's a high-energy person who will be great for our locker room."
