The Atlanta Falcons released 2014 second-round pick defensive tackle Ra'Shede Hageman Monday, the team announced, days after he was placed on the Commissioner's Exempt List as the result of 2016 domestic violence-related charges.

"The Atlanta Falcons today terminated the contract of Ra’Shede Hageman, who was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List on Sept. 2," the Falcons said in a statement. "The organizational decision to move forward without Hageman was made by the Falcons after a thorough investigative process by local authorities."

Players who are on the exempt list are prohibited from practicing or playing in games.

Hageman allegedly pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges stemming from an incident with the mother of his child. He was charged with interfering with a call for emergency help, battery family violence, and cruelty to children in the third degree.

The 27-year-old's case is still under review by the NFL.
