Report: Vikings cut Boone after 1 season of 4-year deal

The Minnesota Vikings released starting guard Alex Boone, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
Boone signed a four-year, $26.8-million contract with the Vikings in 2016. He was due $6.6 million in 2017 with $3.4 million guaranteed after starting 14 games for Minnesota last season.
The veteran guard was expected to be one of the only reliable offensive linemen for the Vikings after they acquired a new set of tackles. It's not clear who will take Boone's spot as a starter, though rookie center Pat Elflein has a good chance to crack the lineup after an impressive preseason.
