Report: Tottenham making late push to sign Swansea's Llorente

Chelsea reportedly isn't the only club targeting Fernando Llorente.

Tottenham Hotspur is trying to beat Chelsea to the signing of Llorente, who was expected to join the Blues from Swansea City, according to the Guardian. Spurs apparently submitted a bigger offer than Chelsea's £15-million proposal, but the Premier League's reigning champion may return with a bid and can offer the Navarran striker higher wages.

At Chelsea, Llorente would allegedly be Alvaro Morata's understudy, while a transfer to Tottenham would likely signal the exit of Vincent Janssen, who could move to Swansea on loan.

BBC Sport's David Ornstein reports Llorente underwent a medical at Tottenham and Mauricio Pochettino is trying to convince him of joining Spurs.

Llorente joined Swansea from Sevilla and was Swansea's top scorer in the Premier League during his inaugural campaign at Liberty Stadium, tallying 15 goals in 33 appearances.
