Report: Elliott appeal hearing to continue into Thursday

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

Ezekiel Elliott's appeal of his six-game suspension was originally scheduled to take two days, but is now expected to extend into Thursday as the NFL has agreed to make a witness available by phone, ESPN's Dan Graziano reports.

The league initially denied the union's request to have the witness testify.

The Dallas Cowboys running back was allowed to be away from the team to attend his appeal hearing, which is being overseen by arbitrator Harold Henderson. Elliott's ex-girlfriend, Tiffany Thompson, is not attending the hearing.

Elliott was suspended six games after a year-long NFL investigation determined there was evidence the second-year pro engaged in physical violence. The criminal case was dropped by Ohio prosecutors.
