Jay Bruce says he'd consider signing with Mets in offseason

Jay Bruce must have enjoyed his time in the Big Apple.

The former New York Mets outfielder says he'd "absolutely" entertain the idea of returning to the club in the offseason when he hits free agency, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

"We'll see what happens," Bruce added.

Hypothetically speaking, a return could very well be in the cards - especially considering the Mets will have a vacancy in right field with Yoenis Cespedes and Michael Conforto likely to occupy left and center field next year.

The 30-year-old slugger spent parts of two seasons with the Mets after being acquired by the team at last year's trade deadline. His best stretch in the Big Apple came this year as he hit .256/.321./520 with 29 home runs and 75 RBIs in 103 games.

In an attempt to shed salary, the Mets traded Bruce to the Cleveland Indians on Aug. 9 for prospect Ryder Ryan. In 17 games with the Tribe, Bruce has performed well, hitting .311/.391/.590 with four home runs and 13 RBIs.
