The Dallas Cowboys are fearful that linebacker Anthony Hitchens suffered a season-ending knee injury during Saturday's victory over the Oakland Raiders, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Hitchens will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.

The 25-year-old established himself as a key component of the Cowboys' defense last season, recording 78 tackles and 1.5 sacks, and starting all 16 games.

If Hitchens is out for the entire season as feared, Justin Durant and Kyle Wilber would likely play larger roles on the defense.
