Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh promised that Joe Flacco would be available for his team's regular season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals, after the quarterback missed the team's preseason schedule with a back injury.
Flacco was diagnosed with a disc issue at the start of training camp.
"He will be back for the Bengals (Week 1) game. I promise you that," Harbaugh told reporters Saturday.
Baltimore defeated Buffalo 13-9 on Saturday, with Ryan Mallett, Josh Woodrum and Thad Lewis splitting reps at quarterback. Woodrum threw the team's lone touchdown pass.
With Flacco available for the start of the season, the Ravens can resume their quest to end a two-year playoff hiatus.
