Patriots' Edelman taken to locker room with apparent knee injury

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was carted to the locker room with a knee injury during the first quarter of Friday's preseason game against the Detroit Lions.
Edelman grabbed the outside of his right knee and limped off the field before Patriots medical personnel demanded him to be placed on a cart.
The Patriots ruled Edelman out of the contest at halftime.
Here is a video of the play:
Edelman caught three passes for 52 yards before exiting the contest.
The 31-year-old was an integral part of the Patriots' Super Bowl victories in 2014 and 2016, and if he's out for a significant period, it would constitute a major loss for the defending champions.
