Rodgers credits break from throwing for being in top shape

On an average Sunday, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is close to unstoppable. Ahead of the upcoming season, it's entirely possible that the two-time MVP could be in the best form of his life.

Rodgers was excellent in limited work against the Washington Redskins on Saturday, going 6-of-8 for 37 yards and a touchdown, before ceding control to his backups.

With the season rapidly approaching, Rodgers explained why he may be in line for the best season of his decorated career.

"I worked hard in the offseason on my body and my core strength," Rodgers said to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "I took a break from throwing for about a month. I kind of let my arm come all the way back. It's felt good this year, as usual. But my legs, I think, have felt better the last couple years than maybe the previous couple years, probably due to the training and maybe eating better. I think when your legs are underneath you and you're throwing from the ground up, you're probably going to be a little more accurate."

Rodgers said he took more time off than usual during the offseason, partially explaining why he feels revitalized.

"When we break from OTAs, I'll (usually) take a couple weeks and then get back into it," Rodgers said. "This year I took most of the summer and just relaxed. I don't think there's a big difference in my arm. It's just my legs, maybe, are feeling a little better than the last couple years."

Defensive coordinators everywhere are likely losing sleep as a result.
