Houston Texans wide receiver Jaelen Strong is appealing his one-game suspension for his arrest on a marijuana possession charge, stemming from a February 2016 incident, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Strong is hoping to be available for the Texans' season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 10.

The 23-year-old caught 14 passes for 131 yards in eight games last season, before succumbing to an ankle injury.

Strong was selected in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft and is seeking an increased role within the Texans' passing game this year.
