Sonnen predicts easy win for Mayweather: 'It's over fast'

Not many fighters in the MMA world run their mouth like Chael Sonnen.

So when the former UFC middleweight title contender gave his prediction for Saturday's superfight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, Sonnen didn't hold back.

"One guy’s never done it, and one guy’s never lost," Sonnen told Fight Hub TV. "Of course Mayweather is going to win."

Two of those statements are indeed true, as the bout will be McGregor's first professional boxing match while Mayweather carries a perfect 49-0 record across two decades in the ring.

While Sonnen gives the edge to "Money May," he also used the opportunity to take a shot at the sport of boxing in general, alluding to the fact that the fight could be rigged in Mayweather's favor.

"You have to understand, they're in the filthiest, dirtiest sport in the history of the world," said Sonnen. "The government has to regulate it, government doesn’t regulate sport, only in communist countries are governments involved in sport, well in this one, they have to regulate fighting because it’s so corrupt and dirty.

"So, could the fix be in? Sure, I’ll play along on a conspiracy, but in a fair contest, this is over and it’s over fast."

Sonnen's conspiracy theory may be a little far fetched, but at least he's right about one thing: McGregor remains the underdog in a fight that few give him any chance of winning.
