Chicago Bears running back Jordan Howard won't play Saturday versus the Arizona Cardinals because of a corneal abrasion, the team told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Pelissero added the injury was suffered during a walkthrough Friday and it appears to be minor. Howard only received three carries in the Bears' first preseason game, so he won't get a chance to see significant action now until late in August.
While it may be unrelated, it's worth noting Howard had eye surgery during the offseason to improve his vision.
After a standout season that saw Howard rush for more than 1,300 yards as a rookie, Chicago will now be counting on him to carry the offense behind Mike Glennon and Mitch Trubisky.
