Cam Newton remains sidelined for Panthers' 2nd preseason game

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton won't play in the team's second preseason game Saturday, against the Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN's Dianna Russini.

Newton's shoulder was re-evaluated and deemed unready, as he continues his comeback from surgery to repair a partially torn rotator cuff in March.

Quarterbacks Derek Anderson, Joe Webb, and Garrett Gilbert will continue to split playing time until Newton is ready.

Webb led the passing attack in the first game, converting seven of his 14 pass attempts for 128 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.
