The final race of Usain Bolt's legendary sprinting career resulted in a torn left hamstring, the 30-year-old revealed via Twitter on Thursday.
Bolt initially shared a picture of the medical scan to his millions of followers, but later deleted the tweet.
During the stretch run of Saturday's 4x100m relay, Bolt, the anchor of the Jamaican squad, pulled up with an injury, laid on the ground, and eventually walked across the finish line for a disappointing conclusion to a storied career.
Bolt owns a record 14 World Championship medals, to go with eight Olympic golds. He also holds the world record in the 100m dash (9.58) and 200m dash (19.19).
