Zemgus Girgensons is staying in Buffalo.
The Sabres signed the Latvian forward to a two-year contract worth $1.6 million per season Thursday.
Girgensons collected only 16 points in 75 games in 2016-17, his fourth campaign with the Sabres, who selected him 14th overall in 2012.
The 23-year-old is coming off a one-year, $1.15-million extension he signed before last season.
